IH Cooking Heater (High-End)


Induction Heating (IH) cooking ranges are gaining popularity in "all electric" homes due to their eco-friendliness and safety, since they do not use an open flame. Models capable of accommodating all types of metal cooking implements must be able to distinguish the material of the pots or pans placed on them, so their control circuits require high-performance MCUs. In addition, flat panels employing touch sensors are being introduced on many IH models because they are easy to clean.

Renesas’ the RL78/L1x Series, the R8C/Lx Series and the 78K0R/Lx3 of MCUs contain devices suitable for use as heating control and display operation. For example, the R8C/3xT(32-80 pins) chips are ideal solutions for touch-key MCUs. Renesas also supplies devices such as control TRIACs and IGBTs. Our broad product portfolio enables our customers to design IH control systems with better performance, less power, and lower cost.

In addition, to address the trend toward stricter restrictions on harmonic components in the input current of electrical products, Renesas Electronics has a lineup of PFC power supply IC products (power-factor correction ICs) that are effective in suppressing electrical noise.
