As the Renesas’s first R-Car ADAS device, R-Car V2H will be available in sample quantities.
Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) have used front cameras to provide technologies, such as lane departure warning, detection of pedestrians/vehicles running ahead (or forward collision warning), or high beam assistance. However, with the systems for driver visibility, the recent ADAS have expanded their applications to the systems for every direction around a vehicle by fusing oversight prevention or other functions using image recognition technology.
The sophisticated systems demand substantially higher processing performance in order to handle the expanded range of image recognition targets and increased processing load imposed by multiple cameras with higher pixel counts. Simultaneously, the systems are required to fulfill functional safety to maintain high quality and performance and to reduce power consumption. Also, the rapidly increasing cost of software development has created a need for better development efficiency.
In order to meet these increasing requirements, Renesas has developed the R-Car V2H device that contributes to realization of smarter and safer automobiles by integrating the Renesas’s ground-breaking image recognition technology and essential functionalities required for ADAS on a single chip.
